Close to Bursa city center and home to long-established hotels, Uludağ is one of the first places that comes to mind when people in Turkey think of skiing. If it’s your first visit, a few practical tips will make your trip easier.
When to go
The ski season depends on snowfall and generally covers the winter months. Opening and closing dates change every year, so check the current snow and slope conditions before you go. Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends.
Zones
Uludağ’s hotels and slopes are spread across different zones. Our school is located inside Karinna Hotel in the 2nd Development Zone. Knowing which zone your hotel is in makes it easier to plan how you’ll get to the slopes and to your lesson meeting point.
Getting there
- By road: You drive up the mountain road from Bursa. In winter conditions you may need snow chains or winter tires; check the road conditions before you set off.
- Cable car: You can also go up the mountain from Bursa by cable car; service may vary depending on operating hours and weather conditions.
Preparation
- At altitude, the weather changes quickly; dress in layers and don’t forget sunscreen. For details, see our post on layering.
- If you don’t have your own equipment, you can stop by our Ski Rental Center to rent.
- If you’re planning lessons, we recommend sending a booking request in advance, especially on weekends and during holidays.
Beyond the slopes
Besides skiing, Uludağ offers activities such as snowmobile tours and sledding. If you’d like to see the mountain’s higher reaches with a guide, take a look at our Snowmobile Tours page.
